LIBERIA MARITIME AUTHORITY the “LMA” IDENTIFIES WITH CHILDREN ON DUPORT ROAD

Hosts Christmas party

(December 25, 2010) Another Christmas has come around and the Department of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Liberia Maritime Authority is continuing with its outreach activities. This year, the LMA gave hope to over 500 children on Duport Road when it hosted a party for them. Most of the children between the ages of one to fourteen years of age were accompanied by their parents. Gift packages (food and toys) were shared amongst the children while lunch was served to their parents. During the distribution of the gift items, the children were orderly and patiently formed a line to be served.

The initiative to host the children’s Christmas party was in line with the LMA’s Social Responsibility program and a clear manifestation of Commissioner Kesselly’s commitment to caring for others which was demonstrated during the holiday season.

The party was graced by members from the Paynesville City Council and speaking on behalf of the Council, Councilman, J. C. N. Howard said he was very pleased that the LMA was having a party for the children because Christmas is a time for children to celebrate and be happy. He then thanked the LMA family for their generosity.

In her remarks, the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Ms Ellen Ferguson disclosed that the LMA tries to touch the lives of others positively, through its outreach program by identifying with various communities when there is a need. In this situation, the LMA saw the need to show love to the residents of Duport Rd through the sharing of food and toys during this festive season. She urged everyone to celebrate the joy of Christmas, which is the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and told them to relax to the tunes of beautiful Christmas carols and other music provided by a band.

Concluding, LMA Commissioner Binyah Kesselly, in his message, informed the kids that Christmas i[s a time for giving; and that giving should bring comfort, joy and hope to the recipients. That is why he was happy to be doing something for them, which is in line with the Christmas spirit of being thoughtful of others.
